A new Minnesota State Statute (121A.038 sub.7(c)) went into effect in January of 2024 that mandates best-practices around student safety drills in K-12 schools and requires one-hour of violence prevention training annually in middle and high schools. This session will discuss the reasons behind this new legislation, provide a detailed overview of the new requirements for school safety drills, and offer resources for schools to meet the new violence prevention training mandate.
