MASA Executive Director
As I write this article we are in day one of the statewide Distance Learning plan. I must start off by saying THANK YOU to each of you for the role you played in getting your district to this point! One month ago this type of action was not on anyone’s radar. What the educators in Minnesota have accomplished is extraordinary! The beneficiaries of your action will be the students that we all serve.
As you move forward there will be challenges and opportunities. Meet the challenges head on! Don’t shy away from them. Make decisions from the lens of what is best for your students. That is our charge.
At times opportunities will present themselves; at times you will need to seek out the opportunities. Don’t forget that each of you is creative and an excellent problem solver. Regardless of your role you are part of THE team in your district that must continue to serve our students in these very unusual circumstances.
I’m sure that as you have experienced distance learning, you have found things that work well and some that may not work as well. Learn from the experience and continue to refine your processes. As this pandemic is an ever-changing situation, your delivery of distance learning can be modified based on the experiences of your staff and students.
I cannot say strongly enough how PROUD I AM OF EACH OF YOU!!! Your dedication and leadership to the staff you work with and the students you serve is unparalleled in this country. We will get through this and brighter days are ahead. Stay focused and stay positive my friends! I have a great amount of HOPE for the future!
Please STAY WELL and know that I am always here for you! Contact me at 651.319.1211 or email me at gary.amoroso@mnasa.org.
With my greatest thanks!
Gary A.
