Executive Director
MASA
As we head into spring, I’ve been thinking a lot about connection and how much it really matters, both in our work and in our lives.
This time of year always feels like a reset. The days get longer, there’s more light, and it’s a little easier to lift our heads up from the day-to-day and look around after a long winter.
In our work, it’s easy to stay focused on what’s right in front of us such as meetings, deadlines, decisions. But the connections we have with one another are what really carry us through. A quick conversation, a check-in, or simply taking a moment to listen can make a bigger difference than we realize.
That sense of connectedness strengthens all of us across MASA. As Margaret Wheatley put it, “Relationships are all there is. Everything in the universe only exists because it is in relationship to everything else.” It’s a good reminder that none of us does this work alone—and we’re better when we stay connected.
Spring also nudges us to reconnect outside of work. Time with family, getting outside, or simply slowing down enough to be present can help restore the energy we all need.
So as we move into this new season, I encourage you to take advantage of that shift. Reach out to a colleague. Make time for family. Even small moments of connection can have a lasting impact.
As my days in this position come to a close, I look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible!
